Our Journey from Fes to Marrakech
The story of our workshop is not written in ink, but in clay, water, and the steady rhythm of a craftsman’s hammer. It is a story that began decades ago in the narrow, winding alleys of Fes the spiritual heart of Morocco and the ancient cradle of the geometric arts.
Our heritage was founded by the father of Maalam Mohamed. In the courtyard of our family’s original workshop in Fes, the air was always thick with the earthy scent of drying clay and the sound of the manquach (the sharp hammer) shaping the soul of the earth.
Mohamed’s father was a master of Zellige, an art form that requires more than just skill it requires a mathematical mind and a poet’s heart. He didn't just teach Mohamed how to cut tile; he taught him that every piece of Zellige is a prayer, a fragment of history, and a testament to Moroccan identity. In Fes, we learned that Zellige is "the art of the infinite," where small, hand-cut pieces come together to create a universe of patterns.

A Legacy Born in the Medina

The Migration of an Art
Art, like a vine, needs room to grow and breathe. While Fes provided our roots, we felt a calling to share this "Gem of Morocco" with the wider world. With the blessings of the elder Maalam, the family expanded to Marrakech, the Red City.
We established our new home in El Fkhara, a district synonymous with the heat of the kilns and the passion of the makers. This move was more than just a change of address; it was the birth of a new vision.
Upon arriving in Marrakech, Maalam Mohamed realized that to honor the past, he had to build a bridge to the future. He looked at the clay beneath his feet and saw more than just Zellige. He saw the rugged, natural beauty of Bejmat—the handmade terracotta tiles that ground a home in warmth. He saw the elegance of Marble, waiting to be carved by hands that understood the weight of heritage.
Under Mohamed’s leadership, our workshop transformed. Alongside his dedicated team of artisans—men who have spent their lives perfecting the "touch"—he began to fuse the delicate geometry of Fes with the bold, earthy textures of Marrakech. Every slab of marble and every hand-pressed Bejmat tile produced in our atelier carries the DNA of that original workshop in Fes, refined for the modern world.

Why We Are Here
We have launched this digital home not just to sell products, but to invite you into our story. For us, a tile is never just a tile. It is a piece of the Moroccan sun, the labor of a master’s hands, and a legacy passed from father to son.
When you choose a piece from our collection, you aren't just decorating a space; you are becoming a guardian of an ancient craft. You are helping us keep the fire of the kilns burning and ensuring that the "Wonderful Work" of our ancestors continues to spread across the globe.
